We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to you both, for taking our son under your tutelage. He has really developed a love for karate and we have seen his attitude improve within all areas: home, school and socially. We have seen an increase in respect towards us and toward others. His confidence and self-respect have improved as a result of your training. For a child on the autism spectrum, your school offers a wonderful experience in providing a chance to grow and develop both physically and mentally. You have provided outstanding leadership, discipline and self-control role modeling, in a thoughtful and respectful way and we appreciate all your efforts to reach each student to help them to be their best.
Thank you so much for all your support, knowledge, patience, kindness and nurturing spirits. I have been proud to recommend your amazing staff and facility. May you all know in your hearts what wonderful people you are and all you contribute.
In the years to follow, all members of the McKay family joined Budokai. Our younger son’s self-confidence started to grow from the beginning when he joined the Tiny Tigers program. Both our sons have spent half of their lives training at US Budokai Karate and it has given them a level of self-confidence, discipline and respect that carries over into all areas of their lives. For us as parents, it is a joy to share our karate training with our children. Training at US Budokai is a great way to get in shape and learn about yourself in the process. The workouts have made us all healthier as well as physically and mentally stronger. We each have grown in our own way throughout our years of training and we can’t imagine not having US Budokai Karate in our lives.
We looked at MANY different potential martial arts programs for our child. From the first meeting with Renshi Sue it was clear this place was different. You don't want the programs SO easy that they don't learn the actual art or develop the discipline, not SO hard they lose interest. This program hits the perfect balance. Hanshi Jarem Is TOUGH on them yet also tender and funny. Knows every kid. They seek his praise and follow his guidance. This has been terrific for our son, who is a sensory seeker, and while he's only been here since very end of April, I see improvement like I've never seen in anything else. Every other dojo I've seen gives rank so they can keep parents $$$; not so here. Child's development first, period. There was this one time where it was was probably the first time this child ever heard no, and while your heart breaks a little with their tears (it was handled with dignity in private, but you could tell on his face later), you also know that it's probably one of the best things to happen to him. False self esteem (without the work) is actually highly damaging to kids, leading to depression and anxiety as young adults. Letting kids take some lumps is hard. Lots of dojos talk about character, but don't actually follow through. Here, they do. VERY compassionately, but firm. Guess who does the work now and has a new spring in his step? It's great to see.
U.S. Budokai provides a friendly, supportive, nurturing environment to train in. It is a real pleasure to work with classmates and staff who share the same values, respect and overall commitment to themselves and the martial arts. I couldn't imagine my life without the dojo.
As parents, we have more confidence that our children are building their skills to better prepare them for life’s challenges. Their growth and personal development have been augmented by the many terrific role models and principles and ideals that they have been exposed to over the years at U.S. Budokai Karate. They have definitely achieved their goals along the way and look forward to more opportunities to continue growing in their knowledge of karate and the respect and value that it stands for.
If I was asked to grade US Budokai Karate of Clifton Park on a scale of 1 to 10, it easily grades a 10. My children participate in the junior and teen levels, one of whom is a special needs child. I cannot adequately express my appreciation to Kyoshi, Shihan Sue and all those involved in the teaching of this great sport. Tough love, humor and tremendous attention to assure their success. All this results in kids that gain skills at their different levels; and, skills that improve their focus, social skills and discipline. A great dojo and great people.
My son has been a student for three years! He attended several other martial arts schools and US Budokai Karate is hands down the best karate and martial arts school in the area. It’s a family run business with exceptional teachers and leaders. Their classes are well run with plenty of instructors on the floor. If your considering getting your child into martial arts for whatever reason you will not be disappointed when you choose US Budokai!
l really enjoy these classes and get fulfillment from the program
I found US Budokai Karate of Clifton Park when my previous dojo closed. I came in and did my two introductory classes with Renshi Sue and I was hooked. When you meet the US Budokai family, they embrace you and that feeling of belonging is a powerful motivator to keep going and keep progressing, especially as you are challenged on your road to black belt. I have been part of this organization for several years now and it was the best choice for me, both for my martial arts journey and for my personal growth and development. I have improved my fitness, I have lost weight, and I am healthier than I have been in years. Karate is not easy, but you get support here that helps you stay motivated-when you're motivated, you attend class consistently, and when you do that, your karate improves. I feel valued as a student here and I'm happy with the high quality instruction I have received at all belt levels. Come check us out, see for yourself why this dojo is so awesome. Osu!
I have been doing karate since i was 8, and I am now 15. All the teachers here have helped me through a lot, I used to be bullied, and it was really unhealthy.
They helped me so much, and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Thank you! We are so glad you are part of our school!!
Over my entire life, I have had the good fortune to successfully participate in many sporting and physical ventures. With that said, nothing could prepare me for the challenge of the martial arts. U.S. Budokai Karate Association has been offering me challenge and inspiration for over ten years. The instructors and students in the organization always prove their impressive character in and out of the dojo. I continually recommend U.S. Budokai to my friends and acquaintances who are searching for better physical fitness, skills for self-defense or a way to inner peace. The path is not always easy but it is certainly worth it!
