On Monday October 7th, a guided chat for KARATE TEENS ONLY began with a great turnout of boys and girls! The “chat” offered in the backroom from 7:30pm – 7:50 pm is scheduled for the 1st & 3rd Mondays monthly, immediately following teen class. “Teens” class at US Budokai Karate ranges in age from 6th graders through high school seniors, an age group which faces unique challenges. During this 20 minute chat Renshi Sue and Miss Jarem give teens a forum for sharing stories, coping ideas and solidarity on topics such as bullying, peer pressure, fitting in, friends, social media, balancing homework and activities, etc., etc.
A teenagers participation in martial arts can be a great building block for the future. We offer volunteer teaching opportunities to build that college resume, accrue volunteer points for National Honor Society, provide letters of recommendation for colleges, job opportunities (working on our birthday party team!) and job references, just to name a few benefits for your karate teen!
We hope this forum provides a safe place for your teen to connect with others experiencing the same struggles as they are on the journey from preteen to adult.
Suggestions for chat topics and organized activities are welcome!
