Eagle Scout Leland Macey

US Budokai Karate congratulates Leland M. Macey on achieving Boy Scout’s highest honor, Eagle Scout.  Leland’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held by Clifton Park Boy Scout Troop 6 on Saturday June 1, 2019 at Jonesville United Methodist Church.  He joins a elite group as only 4% of Scouts make this prestigious rank.

Leland’s Eagle Scout project focused on the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly.  The Karner Blue has a habitat in the Albany Pine Bush.  The female Karner Blue will only lay its eggs on Blue Lupine.  Leland’s project removed acres of invasive species and replanted it with Blue Lupine over a vast area.  His efforts and stewardship have made a tremendous impact on the future of this species.

Leland has been a student at US Budokai since 2018 and he continues to impress with his dedication and skill.  Eagle Scouts and martial artists always strive to go above and beyond.  We wish him all the best as he graduates high school and moves on to the University of Rhode Island to continue his education as well as his stewardship of nature with a degree in marine biology.
