This last weekend team Budokai competed in the 3rd annual Winters Cup competition. This was the first competition held in 2017. The Winter Cup is a unique tournament because competitors didn’t receive trophies for the individual events they competed in but instead received trophies based on their overall performance across all the events. The events included: Kata, Weapons Kata, and board breaking. Our team ended up placing very well at this event and the results are as follows:

Another thing that made this a unique event was that the end of the year awards were given out for the 518 Martial Arts 2016 circuit of tournaments. Competitors earned points at each tournament they competed in based on how well they placed in their divisions. The Adult competitor of the year was Kayleigh Dearstyne and the breaking competitor of the year was Haley Miller.

Congratulations to all of Team Budokai!
