U.S. Budokai Karate is a traditional based Japanese style of martial arts. The Budokai program was formed approximately 20 years ago by Hanshi William Reid and Kyoshi Russell Jarem, both of whom have over 30 years a piece of martial arts experience.

Our program provides confidence and character building by assisting the students in accomplishing their goals. U.S. Budokai Karate also teaches the student to have self-control over his or her body and develop the ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations. We are very careful to teach our students to use common sense before self-defense and to never be abusive or offensive. The result of our program is a self-confident individual who does not need to bully or showoff for others.

The movements for Karate develop coordination, increases strength and flexibility which are very important for growing children and even adults. Our style of martial arts incorporates the whole body. We teach our students to build their bodies as a self-defense tool. By doing this, not only are our students becoming physically active, they are burning off fat, increasing energy and having fun!

The award of higher levels of Japanese Karate belts (Rank) gives the student a sense of achievement and accomplishment. The length of time for achieving a new rank can be from 3 months to 6 months. Training for these enhances the ability to concentrate, plan for and achieve goals as well as triumph over hurdles that come up. This is also an excellent reinforcement of study skills for those who are in school which also helps them build life long skills.

If you have any questions or comments, we can discuss several options of which you can choose from to better educate why and how helpful Karate would be if it were apart of your family’s lifestyle.
